Dear --name--,
Seems like this January news is a little later than I intended!
If you're in the Melbourne area, a few quick items of interest:
- firstly, I'll be speaking on the topic of the electricity and sub-Earthly forces at the Christian Community in March;
- on tarot and, in turns out this year, conjointly on freemasonry, we're in the process of finalising details for the Convention to be held between the 22nd and 24th of June - more details will soon be uploaded to the ATS site.
- our study on Meditations on the Tarot has resumed. This is our third and final year, completing the 22 letters from cards XVII through to XXI (including the Fool as twenty-first letter).
So on with other news items:
anthroposophy & philosophy
In case you're in Europe, the (Steiner/Waldorf) World Teachers' Conference will be held in April. Having attended in both 2000 and 2008, it's an event not to be missed should you have the opportunity to attend. It's highly unlikely I'll be able to attend this year, as I simply have too many other commitments.
In July in Australia, there will be a conference in Alice Springs titled Rediscovering the Secret Sacred in Contemporary Professional Life. More details on www.asc-au.com.
Perhaps I should also mention here two new books by friends and colleagues: the first is David Tresemer's The Venus Eclipse of the Sun; the other is Robert Powell's Cultivating Inner Radiance and the Body of Immortality.

I've already noted the Convention to be held in Melbourne above... but to add a couple of comments on this. The Friday evening event will be a presentation held in a Masonic Lodge (open to the public) on 'Freemasonry and Tarot'. Basically, what I'll present is the incredible interweaving on the development of tarot over the course of the past few centuries through the influence of Freemasons.
On a different note, I've received a number of requests regarding resuming of my online course. It's very likely that I'll provide a condensed version of the course in the latter part of the year, subject to sufficient participents. Unlike previous courses, this one will presume that you have a copy of my book, and will of course continue the requirement that you have access to a Noblet tarot. It will run over approximately ten weeks. I'll add a new registration form over the coming days on the tarot courses page.
Tarot in Culture is painfully really really late! The book is a compilation the content of which has been ready for well over a year, yet I have met hurddles totally unexpected - including re-negotiating with different printers to make the book feasibly priced (constrained by a previous agreement regarding printing options). I've finally reached what I trust will be a workable situation as well as adequate circulation... more on this VERY soon via the Association for Tarot Studies newsletter (it's a free monthly notification).
For those who want something quite literary, Enrique Enriquez's new Tarology is well worth a buy! Enrique, as usual, manages to include various gems in his own very unique style (a discussion we had some time back is on an old blog post here).
And of course, my own book has now been available for a few months via lulu.com

The Victorian Lodge of Research will be hosting a couple of open meetings, one of which will be on the 22nd June for my 'Freemasonry and Tarot' - even if you can't make it to the whole Convention, you're welcome to attend this one. Closer to the date, it would be useful to confirm with the Lodge's secretary your attendance - Cf www.viclodgeofresearch.com (please note that the Lodge now has its own site and is therefore no longer using my lodgeofresearch.com domain name).
Please do also continue to alert me to any additions or corrections to my List of Grand Lodges
Next News....
as this news is only sent biannually, the next notification will be in July 2012.
If you do have something of note that may be of interest to others, please do let me know!
